Evaluation of atopy schools for parents. Allergol Immunopathol. 2021 Mar 1;49(2):1-5.0301-0546http://hdl.handle.net/10668/4083Introduction: Atopic dermatitis is a highly prevalent chronic disorder. Therapeutic education in diseases of this kind is essential in order to improve patient management and prognosis. A study was conducted regarding parent satisfaction following educational sessions in an Atopy School organized by a multidisciplinary team. Material and methods: E-mail surveys with variables scored by means of a Likert scale were administered among the parents participating in the workshops organized by the Atopy School. The educational program comprised four sessions with a duration of 4 hours. Results: Ninety-five percent of the parents were satisfied after participating in the workshops, and were of the opinion that the therapeutic education received was useful for improving control of the illness of their children. Likewise, 85% were satisfied or very satisfied with the help received in the sessions for control of the disease during flare-ups, and 90% considered the data and advice received in the sessions to be of use in improving quality of life of both the children and the family as a whole. Conclusions: The Atopy School afforded caregiver empowerment, and the parents were satisfied and felt more secure in dealing with the disease of their children—thereby improving the prognosis and quality of lifeenAtribución 4.0 InternacionalAtribución-NoComercial-CompartirIgual 4.0 Internacionalhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-sa/4.0/Atopic dermatitisAtopy schoolTherapeutic educationDermatitis atópicaQuality of lifeCalidad de vidaCaregiversCuidadoresMedical Subject Headings::Health Care::Health Care Facilities, Manpower, and Services::Health Personnel::CaregiversMedical Subject Headings::Persons::Persons::Age Groups::ChildMedical Subject Headings::Persons::Persons::Age Groups::Child::Child, PreschoolMedical Subject Headings::Diseases::Skin and Connective Tissue Diseases::Skin Diseases::Dermatitis::Dermatitis, AtopicMedical Subject Headings::Check Tags::FemaleMedical Subject Headings::Organisms::Eukaryota::Animals::Chordata::Vertebrates::Mammals::Primates::Haplorhini::Catarrhini::Hominidae::HumansMedical Subject Headings::Persons::Persons::Age Groups::InfantMedical Subject Headings::Persons::Persons::Age Groups::Infant::Infant, NewbornMedical Subject Headings::Check Tags::MaleMedical Subject Headings::Persons::Persons::ParentsMedical Subject Headings::Anthropology, Education, Sociology and Social Phenomena::Education::Education, Nonprofessional::Health Education::Patient Education as TopicMedical Subject Headings::Analytical, Diagnostic and Therapeutic Techniques and Equipment::Diagnosis::PrognosisMedical Subject Headings::Analytical, Diagnostic and Therapeutic Techniques and Equipment::Investigative Techniques::Evaluation Studies as Topic::Program EvaluationMedical Subject Headings::Anthropology, Education, Sociology and Social Phenomena::Social Sciences::Quality of LifeMedical Subject Headings::Analytical, Diagnostic and Therapeutic Techniques and Equipment::Investigative Techniques::Epidemiologic Methods::Data Collection::Health Surveys::Health Status Indicators::Patient Acuity::Severity of Illness IndexMedical Subject Headings::Psychiatry and Psychology::Behavior and Behavior Mechanisms::Attitude::Attitude to Health::Health Knowledge, Attitudes, PracticeMedical Subject Headings::Psychiatry and Psychology::Behavior and Behavior Mechanisms::Behavior::Personal SatisfactionMedical Subject Headings::Information Science::Information Science::Communications Media::Telecommunications::Electronic MailMedical Subject Headings::Anthropology, Education, Sociology and Social Phenomena::Education::SchoolsMedical Subject Headings::Health Care::Health Services Administration::Patient Care Management::Patient Care TeamEvaluation of atopy schools for parentsresearch article33641287open access10.15586/aei.v49i2.47
