A Simulation Framework for the Integration of Artificial Olfaction into Multi-Sensor Mobile Robots. Sensors. 2021 Mar 14;21(6):2041http://hdl.handle.net/10668/4178The simulation of how a gas disperses in a environment is a necessary asset for the development of olfaction-based autonomous agents. A variety of simulators already exist for this purpose, but none of them allows for a sufficiently convenient integration with other types of sensing (such as vision), which hinders the development of advanced, multi-sensor olfactory robotics applications. In this work, we present a framework for the simulation of gas dispersal and sensing alongside vision by integrating GADEN, a state-of-the-art Gas Dispersion Simulator, with the Unity 3D, a video game development engine that is used in many different areas of research and helps with the creation of visually realistic, complex environments. We discuss the motivation for the development of this tool, describe its characteristics, and present some potential use cases that are based on cutting-edge research in the field of olfactory robotics.enAtribución 4.0 Internacionalhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/Artificial olfactionComputer visionSimulation engineMobile roboticsCFDGas dispersionInteligencia artificialOlfatoRobóticaGasesMedical Subject Headings::Psychiatry and Psychology::Behavior and Behavior Mechanisms::MotivationMedical Subject Headings::Anthropology, Education, Sociology and Social Phenomena::Human Activities::Leisure Activities::Recreation::Play and Playthings::Video GamesMedical Subject Headings::Psychiatry and Psychology::Psychological Phenomena and Processes::Psychophysiology::Sensation::SmellMedical Subject Headings::Organisms::Eukaryota::Animals::Chordata::Vertebrates::Mammals::Primates::Haplorhini::Catarrhini::Hominidae::HumansMedical Subject Headings::Geographical Locations::Geographic Locations::CitiesMedical Subject Headings::Phenomena and Processes::Biological Phenomena::Ecological and Environmental Phenomena::Ecological and Environmental Processes::Climatic Processes::Climate Change::Global WarmingMedical Subject Headings::Phenomena and Processes::Biological Phenomena::Ecological and Environmental Phenomena::Environment::Atmosphere::Weather::HumidityMedical Subject Headings::Psychiatry and Psychology::Psychological Phenomena and Processes::Psychophysiology::Reaction TimeMedical Subject Headings::Phenomena and Processes::Biological Phenomena::Ecological and Environmental Phenomena::Meteorological Concepts::Weather::TemperatureMedical Subject Headings::Phenomena and Processes::Biological Phenomena::Ecological and Environmental Phenomena::Meteorological Concepts::Weather::WindMedical Subject Headings::Health Care::Environment and Public Health::Public Health::Environmental Pollution::Air PollutionMedical Subject Headings::Health Care::Environment and Public Health::Public Health::Environmental Pollution::Environmental Exposure::Environmental MonitoringMedical Subject Headings::Health Care::Environment and Public Health::Public Health::Public Health Practice::Communicable Disease Control::Sanitation::Sanitary Engineering::Waste Management::Waste Disposal FacilitiesMedical Subject Headings::Technology and Food and Beverages::Technology, Industry, and Agriculture::Power PlantsMedical Subject Headings::Health Care::Health Care Economics and Organizations::Organizations::GovernmentMedical Subject Headings::Chemicals and Drugs::Inorganic Chemicals::GasesA Simulation Framework for the Integration of Artificial Olfaction into Multi-Sensor Mobile Robotsresearch article33799397Acceso abierto10.3390/s210620411424-8220PMC8001079
