Early estimates of the effectiveness of the 2011/12 influenza vaccine in the population targeted for vaccination in Spain, 25 December 2011 to 19 February 2012. Euro Surveill. 2012;17(12):pii=20129.1025-496Xhttp://hdl.handle.net/10668/745Journal Article; Research Support, Non-U.S. Gov't;We present early estimates of influenza vaccine effectiveness (VE) in the population targeted for vaccination, during 25 December 2011 to 19 February 2012. The adjusted VE was 55% (95% CI: 3 to 79) against any type of influenza virus and 54% (95% CI: 1 to 79) against influenza A(H3N2) virus. This suggests a moderate protective effect of the vaccine in the targeted population in a late influenza epidemic with limited match between vaccine and circulating strains.enVacunas contra la InfluenzaInfluenza VaccinesEfectividadMedical Subject Headings::Named Groups::Persons::Age Groups::AdultMedical Subject Headings::Named Groups::Persons::Age Groups::Adult::AgedMedical Subject Headings::Named Groups::Persons::Age Groups::Adult::Aged::Aged, 80 and overMedical Subject Headings::Analytical, Diagnostic and Therapeutic Techniques and Equipment::Investigative Techniques::Epidemiologic Methods::Epidemiologic Study Characteristics as Topic::Epidemiologic Studies::Case-Control StudiesMedical Subject Headings::Named Groups::Persons::Age Groups::ChildMedical Subject Headings::Named Groups::Persons::Age Groups::Child::Child, PreschoolMedical Subject Headings::Check Tags::FemaleMedical Subject Headings::Organisms::Eukaryota::Animals::Chordata::Vertebrates::Mammals::Primates::Haplorhini::Catarrhini::Hominidae::HumansMedical Subject Headings::Named Groups::Persons::Age Groups::InfantMedical Subject Headings::Named Groups::Persons::Age Groups::Infant::Infant, NewbornMedical Subject Headings::Organisms::Viruses::Vertebrate Viruses::RNA Viruses::Orthomyxoviridae::Influenzavirus A::Influenza A virus::Influenza A Virus, H3N2 SubtypeMedical Subject Headings::Chemicals and Drugs::Complex Mixtures::Biological Agents::Vaccines::Viral Vaccines::Influenza VaccinesMedical Subject Headings::Diseases::Virus Diseases::RNA Virus Infections::Orthomyxoviridae Infections::Influenza, HumanMedical Subject Headings::Analytical, Diagnostic and Therapeutic Techniques and Equipment::Investigative Techniques::Models, Theoretical::Models, Statistical::Logistic ModelsMedical Subject Headings::Check Tags::FemaleMedical Subject Headings::Named Groups::Persons::Age Groups::Adult::Middle AgedMedical Subject Headings::Analytical, Diagnostic and Therapeutic Techniques and Equipment::Investigative Techniques::Epidemiologic Methods::Sentinel SurveillanceMedical Subject Headings::Geographicals::Geographic Locations::Europe::SpainMedical Subject Headings::Analytical, Diagnostic and Therapeutic Techniques and Equipment::Therapeutics::Biological Therapy::Immunomodulation::Immunotherapy::Immunization::Immunotherapy, Active::VaccinationMedical Subject Headings::Named Groups::Persons::Age Groups::Adult::Young AdultMedical Subject Headings::Named Groups::Persons::Age Groups::AdolescentEarly estimates of the effectiveness of the 2011/12 influenza vaccine in the population targeted for vaccination in Spain, 25 December 2011 to 19 February 2012.research article22490308open access1560-7917
