Probiotic and Functional Properties of Limosilactobacillus reuteri INIA P572. Nutrients. 2021 May 29;13(6):1860http://hdl.handle.net/10668/4107Limosilactobacillus reuteri INIA P572 is a strain able to produce the antimicrobial compound reuterin in dairy products, exhibiting a protective effect against some food-borne pathogens. In this study, we investigated some probiotic properties of this strain such as resistance to gastrointestinal passage or to colonic conditions, reuterin production in a colonic environment, and immunomodulatory activity, using different in vitro and in vivo models. The results showed a high resistance of this strain to gastrointestinal conditions, as well as capacity to grow and produce reuterin in a human colonic model. Although the in vitro assays using the RAW 264.7 macrophage cell line did not demonstrate direct immunomodulatory properties, the in vivo assays using a Dextran Sulphate Sodium (DSS)-induced colitic mice model showed clear immunomodulatory and protective effects of this strain.enAtribución 4.0 Internacionalhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/Limosilactobacillus reuteriProbioticColonic modelDSS-induced colitic modelImmunomodulationReuterinProtective effectDextran sulphate sodiumCell lineMacrophagesLactobacillus reuteriProbióticosInmunomodulaciónProtectores contra radiaciónSulfato de DextranLínea CelularMacrófagosMedical Subject Headings::Organisms::Eukaryota::AnimalsMedical Subject Headings::Diseases::Animal Diseases::Disease Models, AnimalMedical Subject Headings::Anatomy::Digestive System::Gastrointestinal TractMedical Subject Headings::Chemicals and Drugs::Organic Chemicals::Aldehydes::GlyceraldehydeMedical Subject Headings::Organisms::Eukaryota::Animals::Chordata::Vertebrates::Mammals::Primates::Haplorhini::Catarrhini::Hominidae::HumansMedical Subject Headings::Diseases::Pathological Conditions, Signs and Symptoms::Pathologic Processes::InflammationMedical Subject Headings::Organisms::Bacteria::Gram-Positive Bacteria::Lactobacillales::Lactobacillaceae::Lactobacillus::Lactobacillus reuteriMedical Subject Headings::Check Tags::MaleMedical Subject Headings::Organisms::Eukaryota::Animals::Chordata::Vertebrates::Mammals::Rodentia::Muridae::Murinae::MiceMedical Subject Headings::Organisms::Eukaryota::Animals::Animal Population Groups::Animals, Laboratory::Animals, Inbred Strains::Mice, Inbred Strains::Mice, Inbred C57BLMedical Subject Headings::Technology and Food and Beverages::Food and Beverages::Food::Dietary Supplements::ProbioticsMedical Subject Headings::Chemicals and Drugs::Organic Chemicals::Hydrocarbons::Hydrocarbons, Acyclic::Alkanes::PropaneMedical Subject Headings::Chemicals and Drugs::Carbohydrates::Polysaccharides::Glucans::Dextrans::Dextran SulfateMedical Subject Headings::Anatomy::Cells::Cells, Cultured::Cell LineMedical Subject Headings::Technology and Food and Beverages::Food and Beverages::Food::Dairy ProductsMedical Subject Headings::Anatomy::Cells::Myeloid Cells::MacrophagesProbiotic and Functional Properties of Limosilactobacillus reuteri INIA P572research article34072532Acceso abierto10.3390/nu130618602072-6643PMC8228662
