Front Genet. 2021 Aug 5;12:675331http://hdl.handle.net/10668/4068In 2019, the Nosology Committee of the International Skeletal Dysplasia Society provided an updated version of the Nosology and Classification of Genetic Skeletal Disorders. This is a reference list of recognized diseases in humans and their causal genes published to help clinician diagnosis and scientific research advances. Complementary to mammalian models, zebrafish has emerged as an interesting species to evaluate chemical treatments against these human skeletal disorders. Due to its versatility and the low cost of experiments, more than 80 models are currently available. In this article, we review the state-of-art of this "aquarium to bedside" approach describing the models according to the list provided by the Nosology Committee. With this, we intend to stimulate research in the appropriate direction to efficiently meet the actual needs of clinicians under the scope of the Nosology Committee.enAtribución 4.0 Internacionalhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/Skeletal dysplasiaOsteogenesis imperfectaOsteoporosisSkeletal ciliopathiesDwarfismsDysostosisOsteopetrosisZebrafish modelsAcrocefalosindactiliaDentinogénesis imperfectaCiliopatíasDisostosisPez cebraModelos animalesMedical Subject Headings::Organisms::Eukaryota::Animals::Chordata::Vertebrates::Mammals::Primates::Haplorhini::Catarrhini::Hominidae::HumansMedical Subject Headings::Persons::Persons::Age Groups::AdultMedical Subject Headings::Phenomena and Processes::Genetic Phenomena::Genetic Structures::Genome::ExomeMedical Subject Headings::Analytical, Diagnostic and Therapeutic Techniques and Equipment::Investigative Techniques::Genetic Techniques::Genetic Association Studies::Genome-Wide Association StudyMedical Subject Headings::Diseases::Pathological Conditions, Signs and Symptoms::Pathologic Processes::Disease Attributes::Rare DiseasesMedical Subject Headings::Anatomy::Cells::Connective Tissue Cells::Macrophages::OsteoclastsMedical Subject Headings::Diseases::Musculoskeletal Diseases::Bone Diseases::Bone Diseases, Developmental::Osteochondrodysplasias::Osteosclerosis::OsteopetrosisMedical Subject Headings::Phenomena and Processes::Genetic Phenomena::PhenotypeMedical Subject Headings::Diseases::Congenital, Hereditary, and Neonatal Diseases and Abnormalities::Genetic Diseases, Inborn::Dwarfism::AchondroplasiaMedical Subject Headings::Phenomena and Processes::Genetic Phenomena::GenotypeMedical Subject Headings::Disciplines and Occupations::Natural Science Disciplines::Biological Science Disciplines::Biology::GeneticsMedical Subject Headings::Disciplines and Occupations::Natural Science Disciplines::Biological Science Disciplines::Biology::Genetics::GenomicsMedical Subject Headings::Organisms::Eukaryota::Animals::Chordata::Vertebrates::Fishes::Cypriniformes::Cyprinidae::ZebrafishZebrafish Models for Human Skeletal Disordersreview article34490030Acceso abierto10.3389/fgene.2021.6753311664-8021PMC8418114
