Update on the Diagnosis of Sexually Transmitted Infections. Actas Dermosifiliogr (Engl Ed). 2020 Nov;111(9):711-724. English, Spanish.http://hdl.handle.net/10668/15933Sexually transmitted infections (STIs) are one of the most frequent and universal Public Health problems. Health professionals should be aware of the possibility of STIs due to their high morbidity and the presence of sequelae. The delay in the diagnosis is one of the factors that justifies the difficulty to infections control. Diagnostic tests allow the introduction of aetiological treatment and also lead to treating symptomatic and asymptomatic patients more effectively, as well as to interrupt the epidemiological transmission chain without delay. In this review we have made an update of the main existing diagnostic methods for the more important STIs.enAttribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 Internationalhttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/4.0/CultivoCultureDiagnosisDiagnósticoInfecciones de transmisión sexualNucleic Acid Amplification TestPoint of care testPrueba de amplificación de ácidos nucleicosPruebas de diagnóstico en el punto de atenciónSexually transmitted infectionsDiagnostic Tests, RoutineHumansSexually Transmitted DiseasesActualización en el diagnóstico de las infecciones de transmisión sexualUpdate on the Diagnosis of Sexually Transmitted Infections.research article32663448open accessEnfermedades de transmisión sexualDiagnósticoPlomoMétodosTerapéuticaMorbilidadPacientesRevisiónSalud10.1016/j.ad.2019.05.0082173-5778https://doi.org/10.1016/j.ad.2019.05.008
