Prognosis value of biomarkers in severe sepsis and septic shock. Crit Care. 2015;19(Suppl 1):P671364-8535http://hdl.handle.net/10668/2371Introduction The purpose of the study was to assess the prognosis value of pro-adrenomedullin (pADM), C-reactive protein (CRP) and procalcitonin (PCT), lactate (LT), albumin (ALB), cholesterol (CHOL), white blood cell (WBC) and severity score in patients with severe sepsis or septic shock. Methods A prospective, observational study in adult patients with severe sepsis or septic shock in a polyvalent ICU. Demographics, severity scores (APACHE II and SOFA) and all of the biomarkers were studied within 24+ hours from septic shock onset. Descriptive and comparative statistical analysis was performed using the statistical software packages SPSS v.15 and MedCalc® 9.2.1.0. Conclusion The protein pADM, LT and ALB showed good prognosis accuracy when measured on admission of septic patients to the ICU.enChoque sépticoProteína C-reactivaUnidades de cuidados intensivosAdrenomedulinaMarcadores biológicosCalcitoninaCitocromo P-450 CYP2B1ColesterolÁcido lácticoProteínas de drosophilaLeucocitosPronósticoMedical Subject Headings::Diseases::Bacterial Infections and Mycoses::Infection::Sepsis::Shock, SepticMedical Subject Headings::Diseases::Bacterial Infections and Mycoses::Infection::SepsisMedical Subject Headings::Chemicals and Drugs::Amino Acids, Peptides, and Proteins::Proteins::Albumins::C-Reactive ProteinMedical Subject Headings::Health Care::Health Care Facilities, Manpower, and Services::Health Facilities::Hospital Units::Intensive Care UnitsMedical Subject Headings::Chemicals and Drugs::Hormones, Hormone Substitutes, and Hormone Antagonists::Hormones::Peptide Hormones::AdrenomedullinMedical Subject Headings::Chemicals and Drugs::Biological Factors::Biological MarkersMedical Subject Headings::Chemicals and Drugs::Hormones, Hormone Substitutes, and Hormone Antagonists::Hormones::Peptide Hormones::CalcitoninMedical Subject Headings::Chemicals and Drugs::Enzymes and Coenzymes::Cytochromes::Cytochrome P-450 Enzyme System::Aryl Hydrocarbon Hydroxylases::Cytochrome P-450 CYP2B1Medical Subject Headings::Chemicals and Drugs::Polycyclic Compounds::Steroids::Cholestanes::Cholestenes::CholesterolMedical Subject Headings::Chemicals and Drugs::Organic Chemicals::Carboxylic Acids::Hydroxy Acids::Lactates::Lactic AcidMedical Subject Headings::Chemicals and Drugs::Amino Acids, Peptides, and Proteins::Proteins::Arthropod Proteins::Insect Proteins::Drosophila ProteinsMedical Subject Headings::Anatomy::Cells::Blood Cells::LeukocytesMedical Subject Headings::Analytical, Diagnostic and Therapeutic Techniques and Equipment::Diagnosis::PrognosisMedical Subject Headings::Organisms::Eukaryota::Animals::Chordata::Vertebrates::Mammals::Primates::Haplorhini::Catarrhini::Hominidae::HumansPrognosis value of biomarkers in severe sepsis and septic shock.conference presentationopen access10.1186/cc14141466-609X
