However, the use of this ventilatory modality is highlysusceptible to fashions and trends that are rarely supportedby scientific evidence. Prophylactic PEEP can be consideredan exception, in that there is scientific evidence that it offersno benefit. Nevertheless, we must confess that we useprophylactic PEEP.
