dc.description.abstract | Valve-sparing aortic root replacement surgery has emerged as a standard technique for the treatment of patients with aortic root aneurysms. We present our experience in patients with congenital heart disease. From July 2012 to December 2020, 9 patients with a history of congenital heart disease were operated on according to the Yacoub technique (aortic root remodeling). Eight of them were male and the median age was 28 years. Six patients underwent a prior cardiac surgery. 67% had grade III or IV aortic regurgitation. The median maximum diameter of the aortic root prior to surgery was 50 mm (range, 42 to 55 mm). With a median follow-up of 85 months, overall survival was 89%. One patient died during the immediate postoperative period due to a tumor in the left main coronary artery. During follow-up, all patients had grade | |
